What is an AI readiness assessment?

An AI readiness assessment is a structured review of whether an organization's data, processes, systems, people and risk controls are ready for a specific AI project, ending in a scored result and a recommended first step.

In more detail

Good assessments are specific to a workflow, not a company-wide maturity score. They check whether the data the workflow needs is accessible and reasonably clean, whether the process is stable enough to automate, which systems have usable APIs, who owns the outcome and what risk and compliance limits apply. The output should be a ranked list of candidates, the gaps to close first and an honest 'not yet' where that is the answer. Consultancies and vendors use the label for very different things, from a one-hour questionnaire to a multi-week study, so ask what you will receive at the end. A useful one ends with a pilot you could start next month, not a slide deck of themes.

Example

For example, a finance team scores two workflows. Invoice intake rates well: most invoices arrive as PDFs in one mailbox and the ERP has an API. Collections follow-up rates low because payment terms live in individual spreadsheets, so data cleanup comes first.

A 30-minute call with an engineer. You will leave knowing what a system could do for that workflow and what it would take to build.

What happens next

  1. 1

    Strategy call

We learn how the workflow runs today and what a good outcome would be.

  2. 2

    Workflow audit

We map the process and measure where a system would save the most time.

  3. 3

    Proposal

A written scope, timeline and fixed price for your first system. No obligation to build.
